Older-Unplugged

First, I must give a shout out to GO for keeping the YDG ship afloat this week and especially for the "Club Tropicana" find. Truly spectacular!

So, I'm taking it down a notch, going to the "Older" album and the title single "Older". Released in 1996, this album is timeless. With such hits as my personal fave "Jesus to a Child," "Fast Love," and "Spinning the Wheel," this is definitely in my top all time favorite albums.

I'm a sucker for unplugged, especially when you have a vocalist as powerful as Geo. This song and album which signaled Geo's reemergence into the pop scene and showing the world he's really been through it. Lyrics such as: "Strange. Don't you think I'm looking older? But something good has happened to me. Change is a stranger who never seems to show." All I can say is exactly.

Oh, I love this song. Incredible performance. He sings like an absolute angel.

Bring back Unplugged! Whatever happened to that? It's one of they key reasons I often say BRING BACK THE 90s!

YDGers, the beach is awesome. I will be posting something tomorrow. Do not fear.

On the subject of great white soul singers, I sang Private Eyes at karaoke last night. Brought the house down -- lots of Philly people around here. Perfect song for karaoke with the claps. And in the perfect key for me. Wish you all had been there!

I was wondering WWJD after my double post this week, and WOW did she step up!! After the insanely gay Club Trop, and the staple, LaMacchia brings the YDG focus back to the fundamentals: George's VOICE. I forgot how beautiful it is in this song, truly enchanting.

I also love the unplugged format; it truly highlights the "song," rather than the bells and whistles (which are great in their own right). I also like the way it cuts back and forth to rehearsal footage, great stuff.

I'm going to break with tradition and not even address "the look" today, all focus needs to be on geo's amazing voice!!

Kitty, I truly wish we were there to share in karaoke with you at the shore! I would totally sing the OATES harmonies!!!
